short video demonstrating the focus speed and sound of the Tamron Autofocus 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) for Canon SLR Cameras. Canon 40D shutter sound included for comparison. There are videos like this for lenses like Canon's 17-55 USM and Tamron's 17-50, but I couldn't find any for this lens so I made my own. (more)

Some say the Canon 40D will not AF with their f/5.6 lens and a teleconverter. *My* 40D does work with *my* Canon 100-400 lens at 400mm f/5.6 and *my* Kenko 1.4X teleconverter. The shop demo 40D also worked with my lens and teleconverter, which is why I proceeded with my purchase. Some people are not as fortunate. They find their f/5.6 lens does not work with a 1.4X teleconverter and the 40D, although their optics may work with their older 20D or 30D. I have no explanation for this but remind people that Canon explicitly disable AF on their consumer line of cameras when fitted with lenses/optics slower than f/5.6. I've used the standard trick of taping the pins on my teleconverter in order to hide the presence of the teleconverter from the camera body. There is no doubt that the AF performance with the teleconverter is not as good as without, but with reasonable expectations, good light and contrast it does work (for me). However, I would only use the teleconverter as a last reort if I simply had to have the reach. Results are far more satisfying without it. I'm afraid the start of the video has been lost as my camcorder was playing up and as my video editing software was also playing games there is a bit of an old wedding stuck on the end, but the video contains all you need to know in order to see that the 40D, 100-400, Kenko 1.4X combo works (for me
