After having issues with the D800 I sent it back and ordered these days a D7100. Can't wait to get it.
On the German Amazon website I was checking out some of the samples that people have uploaded. One D7100 owner is describing and showing heavy dust/oil issues. It is said that it is not dust and the auto-clean function is not working on those spots. The owner also mentioned that he already has taken about 1300 shots with the body.
It all sounds similar to the D600 issue.نظر ایشون هم جالبهhad the same problem with my D7000.
I think it's just an issue with the design of all of the new Nikon cameras......where if the factory puts on just a little too much oil on the mirror assembly....it flicks onto the sensor surface and over time becomes spots. (Heard similar complaints about the D600 which is very similar design...except in full frame)
I got myself a sensor cleaning kit...and after about 3 or 4 cleanings.....I didn't see it happening anymore. (I'm assuming by that time all the excess oil was gone.)
Cleaning the sensor on a DSLR is just a fact of life....kind of like cleaning your lenses.....eventually it will need it.
Although it shouldn't need to be done after only 1,000 shots....and that's the issue with the D7000, D600, and possibly it appears the D7100 now.
I rarely shoot at apertures smaller than f/8 myself since you are losing sharpness to diffraction at that point anyway.....but if spots should start to develop.......I'm prepared to clean the sensor.
8583882927_351123e2d1_z.jpgNot oil spot. It is dust. 100% sure. Ask nikon if you need proof.
I select random one your image. D5000 eagle11 image have also dust spots, about 10, if pp levels. And 90% all flickers images have dust, if pp levels. And again no oil, dust.
Internet is full those topic: dust, I return, .... don't belev everything in net.
Have you never see professional sensors dust :) I have many times about ~1000 spots f8, and all dust. No big deal. I make money my photos, not test shot. Clean sensor your self or in nikon service.
Shutter Oil spot are different. Light in middle, dark around.
Camera oil is not brown or black, it is opacity.
If using zoom lens, you get dust your sensor soon or later. Ever body, every brand.
Allmost all new body, canon, nikon.... have dust in sensor out of the box. Don't look it, clean if it problem. Take more beautifull images :).
:) Markku
I have also D600, lot of oil, after couple clean , not anymore. I love all my body.
You have two choice:
1. Take your time and take every day test shot, never good photo !
2. Take lot of good photo and clean sensor then as it needed.
